Reseller tools, sorted by the problem they solve

Tools do not make you money. They remove a specific hour from your week, and if that hour was not the one hurting you, the subscription is just a cost. So this is arranged by the problem rather than by the product, and it says which things are free.

Start with the one that is costing you most

Almost everyone buys in the wrong order. The pattern that works is to name the hour you lose most of, and buy only for that.

• Writing the same listing five times means crosslisting.
• Not knowing if the month worked means profit tracking.
• Overpaying, or walking past money means a sourcing scanner.
• Measuring garments has its own small category of tools.
• Queueing at the post office means shipping software.

If two of those are true, fix the one that happens more often. Tools compound badly: every one you add is another place your data lives.

Profit tracking and bookkeeping

The short version: FlipperHelper is free and is the obvious first stop if cost decides it. Seller Ledger is the one to look at if your real need is a tax return, because it syncs banks and produces a Schedule C. Flipwise is the strongest if you are essentially an eBay business. Flippo is more expensive than most of these and has no free tier; what it does differently is treat the purchase as the thing that happened, which is what makes a mixed box of stock behave properly.

Listing and crosslisting

If you write an item once and post it to five marketplaces by hand, this is where the hours are. The established names are Vendoo, List Perfectly, Crosslist and PrimeLister, with Sellbrite aimed at Amazon and Walmart sellers rather than secondhand.

Worth knowing: crosslisting and profit tracking are different jobs, and a crosslister that shows you a revenue figure is not doing your bookkeeping. Plenty of sellers need both eventually. Almost nobody needs crosslisting on day one.

Sourcing and price research

For deciding whether to buy the thing in your hand. Keepa and CamelCamelCamel are the Amazon price-history standards. SellerAmp, BuyBotPro and Tactical Arbitrage are built around retail and online arbitrage rather than secondhand sourcing.

For secondhand, the camera-first scanners are a different shape: FlipAI (free for 10 lifetime scans, then $9.99/mo, $14.99 for Power Seller) and Flippr (starts free, upgrade price not published on its site) both identify an item from a photo and show what it has sold for.

We have not price-checked the Amazon arbitrage tools; they are listed because they come up constantly, not because we use them.

Shipping

Pirate Ship and ShipStation are the two that come up most in the United States. Outside it, the marketplace's own label system is usually the cheapest route and the one your buyer's tracking expects. Check current rates yourself; this is a category where the pricing changes constantly and a stale table would be worse than none.

Measuring clothes

A real bottleneck if you sell garments, and an odd little category. Tailored and Smartsizer both measure a garment from a photograph. Body-measurement tools like MTailor and Sizer solve a different problem, made-to-measure clothing, and are not what a reseller needs. We have not verified current pricing for any of these.

General accounting

QuickBooks and Wave are general business accounting, not reseller tools. They handle the company; they do not know what a unit of inventory is or how to split a mixed box. Most resellers who use one also keep an inventory system beside it.

What we would actually tell a new seller

Start free. FlipperHelper costs nothing and Flippd is free for twenty items, which is enough to find out whether tracking changes how you buy. A spreadsheet is also a completely respectable answer for longer than people admit, and these are the signs it has stopped being one.

Whatever you use, record the cost at the moment of buying. Every tool on this page is arithmetic on top of that one habit, and none of them can reconstruct a purchase price you never wrote down.
